The point of a simulator is to help the pilots learn how to fly and build muscle memory of certain moves. Just pick a simulator that feel real enough for you with graphics that you like and runs smoothly on your computer. A friend lent me his old USB connector and controller but some of the controls were not being recognised, I was concerned that the third party connectors (from Hobbyking) might not work so I ended up ordering the RC Flight Controller from ikarus for £50……….. delivered from Germany in 4 days. (The cable and usb dongle was £3 less).
A friend showed me his Realflight 7.5 and I was impressed, the field of vision you get in realflight (the one he showed me) does seem better, as you can keep the landing strip in view at all times.
You can rezise the models in this app (pro & ultimate) and change the view so you can see the field but the model seems just too far away when landing etc, basically it’s not quite like standing in the field for real, but you can live with it.
Apart from this I am impressed and I am finding it to be a good training aid. The graphics are as good as, if not better than reaflight, and the models I own do fly like the ones in this app.
(I did have problems upgrading to Professional, make sure you have the screen mode in ‘window mode’ and not 'Full Screen’ [Simulation-Graphics settings-screen mode] and then click on In-app purchases and the App Store log in box will pop up. If you are in Full Screen you cant see the log in box until you close the App and then it wont upgrade. Try Restore purchases if having problems).
Great Fun but Has a Few Bugs
Powerful RC Sim which has a lot of fun built in but needs to be updated as there's a few bugs, like placing aircraft in the water on restarts and graphical glitches like flying inside transparent mountains.
Looks good, multirotors not great
I purchased this sim for bad weather multirotor training. Unfortunately the “standard” edition only has a single multirotor model available. It is a UFO in “+” configuration which is under powered and not fun to fly. While it looks really good and the physics seem to be quite realistic the way models are made available definitely needs some work…especially considering the “Pro” version seems to only add 2 new multirotor models. If you are looking for a multirotor sim, probably best to keep looking.
